  • Electric Llama is new in the holiday edition, it changes the direction of play.

Holiday Hierarchy

Santa Llama

Santa Llama

Ho! Ho! Ho! Santa Llama will leave all the gifts that your heart desires. Make sure you leave plenty of cookies and lots of milk so he can disappear into the night. That’s why he can be played on any card but gingerbread llama and force the next player to only play Special Llamas.

Electric Llama

Electric Llama

Electric Llama will brighten anyone’s living room for holiday cheer. Adorned with multi-colored lights, various ornaments and decorations and is ready for gifts to be nestled underneath. He can be played on any card and reverses the direction of play while the previous play must play on their own card.

Elf Llama

Elf Llama

Elf Llama is Santa’s little helper and has plenty of toys and goodies for you. He’s been wrapping and tying bowties for the holiday season and cannot wait for you to see your gift! You can play him on any card and make the entire Play Pile disappear.

Gingerbread Llama

Gingerbread Llama

Gingerbread Llama will make your mouth water with delicious smells and appetizing tastes. His candy shell, while frosting, icing or sweet delight on top, will be the perfect holiday treat. He can be played on any card but Santa Llama and the next person can only play 1-4 or Special Llamas except Santa Llama.

Frozen Llama

Frozen Llama

Frozen Llama stayed outside in the freezing rain and snow too long. Unable to move, he blends in well in the surrounding environment. He can be played on any Card since he is invisible, you can play it as if the previous card is on top.

Baby Llama

Baby Llama

Full of curiosity and adventure, she loves to play and throw your keys. Don’t be fooled by her adorable exterior; she’ll wreak havoc if unattended. Be prepared with diapers and treats. She can be played on any card and can play on her!

Setup

  1. Each player gets:
    • 3 cards face-down (don’t look!)
    • 3 cards face-up on top of those
    • 5 cards to hold in their hand
  2. Put the leftover cards in a pile in the middle as the Draw Pile.
  3. Leave space next to it for a Discard Pile and a Play Pile.

Below is an example of a three-player game:

Three cards face-down, three cards face-up, and five cards in hand.

How to Win

Be the first to play all of your cards!

Normal Turns

  1. Pick someone to start, then take turns in a circle.
  2. On a turn, play one or more of the same card from your hand.
    • If the Play Pile is empty, play any card.
    • If not, play a card that is the same or better than the top card on the Play Pile (check the Llama Hierarchy to know which cards are better).
  3. If you cannot play a card, pick up all the cards in the Play Pile and add them to your hand, ending your turn.
  4. After a turn, draw cards from the Draw Pile to keep at least 5 in your hand. This only applies until the Draw Pile finishes.

Final Turns

  1. Once your hand is empty, play your face-up cards. When those are finished, play your face-down cards! When a card fails, pickup that card and the Play Pile and go back to taking normal turns on your next turn.
  2. The first person with no cards left wins!
